Basingstoke Mencap

Exploring our Horizons Together

What we do

Basingstoke Mencap provides services and support for adults and young people with learning disabilities and/or mental health issues along with their families and carers.

Our services include:-

  • One to One support to help individuals to manage their homes and assist them to interact with the community through activities such as shopping and leisure.
  • Leisure clubs for adults and for young people
  • Through the ASPIRE project, we help both young people and adults with learning disabilities to prepare themselves for volunteering, work experience and ultimately paid employment. Full support is provided for the individuals up to and including their successful appointment.
  • The GREENFINGERS project has been established under the Basingstoke Mencap Charity for over 3 years and provides a Horticultural Therapy Service and Woodwork Development Training on site which provides opportunities to develop skills and confidence offering a peaceful therapy setting or a possible gateway into voluntary or aid work.
  • Our trained gardeners run a Community Gardening Service in local and surrounding areas of Basingstoke. We offer Garden Maintenance, Hedge Trimming and Seasonal Jobs at competitive rates.

In addition to the services, the charity provides information, issues monthly newsletters and supports individuals and families when they are facing crises.
